Hopes and Dreams

Or what I want to accomplish on my summer vacation.

This summer is not looking promising for “normal”. Which isn’t a bad thing per se. As my kids get older, I feel over scheduled by mid-summer. I’m a self-proclaimed loner/homebody, so all this “stay at home” recommendation is right up my alley! I think swimming, a shore vacation, and summer camp are going to be nixed. There’s still bike rides, hikes, sprinklers in the backyard, picnics, and maybe camping to be had.

My little dude- Riding 2 wheel like a BOSS.

Traditionally, my idea of a good summer day is one spend outside (preferably in the shade) reading. Our backyard is partially shaded, so even on the hottest of days, there is an escape from the burning sun. Having discovered the Hoopla app supported by my local library this spring, there isn’t a shortage of books available! Although, some of the books I’m itching to read are not available on Hoopla as e-books. There’s also Kindle and iBooks, and you know, real books.
Last weekend my spouse got our new fire pit started. There’s some cosmetic work to do, but it holds a fire! I also ordered these chairs– I can’t wait for them to arrive! I’m sure I’ll eat more s’mores this summer than I have in my lifetime combined (I’m not a fan of marshmallows honestly).

I just want to crochet this until I get bored with it and move on; instead of finishing the top i’m SO close to completing!

Summer is also the time I get started on my Christmas gifts. Already its June, but I don’t really have any plans for gifts. I do have a couple of weddings planned for 2021, so no hurries. Today I started a “just because” C2C blanket for a friend. Its two strands of Cupcake held together. I have 8 balls. I’m pretty sure 4700 yards will be sufficient to make an adult sized blanket. Bonus: I finally am getting to use my Furls Streamline “J” hook! I purchased it a couple months ago to use on this project.

I’m finishing up the back/shoulders/neckline of PlumBody to Love this week, finishing up the writting, grading, and illustrations next week. I have so much of the ZZTwist yarn leftover, I can definately make a matching top for my daughter. Even though she’s 6, I can make some minor modifications on the body length and sleeve/neck depths for the smallest size and it’ll be perfect.

I have another short sleeve fall sweater to create, because its not uncommon for it to reach 80 degrees here through early October. My “Say Yes to Pie” socks; I want to re-knit them in a smaller size before I go ahead and test/release the pattern. I haven’t abandoned my Lost Knits project, I’m going to finish the Afestos Shawl I started back in 2017. I also want to convert my Unassuming Hat to crochet, because knitters shouldn’t have all the fun with cables!

Afestos Shawl. Exactly where I was back in January. Surprise. Surprise.

I’ve been doing so many of my own design projects this year that I’ve barely made the time to work other designer’s work. I have the Briochehugeness Showl in the pile to make ASAP. I have some Brioche Scarf ideas, but I’ve only ever done the Purl Soho Brioche Cowl. Which means I need to expand my skill set before I can execute my idea.

I’m curious about everyone else’s big yarn plans! I’m always looking for ideas and suggestions.
