YOP: Y13-W5

A little behind schedule.

HI. Its Monday here. Yes, YOP is a Sunday event.
Last week we were out of town Wednesday-Sunday.
We went CAMPING.
In a TENT.
In Virginia.
Yes. It WAS in the 90s.
And HUMID.
But we had a fan in the tent, so it was ok.
We braved the heat and did Busch Gardens Williamsburg (amusement park, didn’t bring phone), Water Country USA (an affiliated water park, also no phone), I took a little hike (3 miles, but SLOW), my spouse and son went fishing (on a row boat, son caught 2 fish), the bathrooms in our loop flooded and shut down the morning of our checkout, and then we stayed a night at my in-laws (planned stay), celebrated my MIL’s birthday (the big 75), then drove home after having a whole family lunch (table for 16 anyone?). Traffic on 95 was BEASTLY as usual. Now we are FINALLY home. The cats missed us, and we are very happy to be home again (where the heat has abated for now and seasonally warm).

With it being SO DANG hot, and not spending much time in the car, I didn’t get much knit time besides in car on the way down and back, and a little while at my in-law’s (they keep the house like an ICE BOX).

I have 2 full balls remaining. This means I have PLENTY of yarn to finish! Each sleeve takes 9/10ths of a ball. I have a full ball remaining to finish the body. I think a split hem could be nice, with a cable making up the split edges to echo the neckline. I think 2 weeks is reasonable to complete.

I also visited a newer yarn store in Newport News and picked up some new pretties. I’ll photograph them and post on their own. Until then, adieu!

    • The site being shady helped, but I don’t think I stopped sweating.
And the fan was the ONLY thing that made sleep tolerable. 3 nights was my max in that heat. 20 degrees cooler would have been perfect for a full week. But the broken bathrooms were a deal breaker!! (All the other facilities weren’t close enough to consistently walk to with little kids)

  1. It looks like you made the most of the time away – hopefully the fan helped! It’s difficult to muster enthusiasm for anything in that heat!

    • My kids were SO UNIMPRESSED with the heat that they DID NOT want a second evening of Busch Gardens! Which was fine, we did an afternoon inside the Virginia Living museum- we all stayed occupied and no one got heat exhaustion!
