YOP: Y13-W3

Slooooooow Summer.

As summer continues to drag on, so does my sweater. I’ve dubbed it Cloudy Skies by the way. I managed to misplace 1 of the balls. I had it out last week, but since it has vanished into some crevasse in my house. I blame the cats.

I finally added a progress marker.

I’ve made little progress AT ALL on it. But I did make a dishcloth last week from a cotton yarn that’s been banging around the stash for about 10-12 years. I have a little left, it will either become a coaster or a strand of a water bottle holder, or get tossed into the remnant bin.

I always have such high hopes to get stuff done during the summer. And it rarely happens. Mostly because there are few quiet moments spent alone. There are lots of little day things peppered in the week.

Tomorrow I am going to take the kids to Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium. Its about an hour away. When I first saw the billboards for this place back in 2008, I was convinced it was an elaborate murder lure. I looked at pictures for it today, it doesn’t look cringe, or scary.

  1. I didn’t start knitting till I was retired. I can’t imagine having the time/energy to knit while raising my kids and working. Congrats on anything you are able to do. What a cute cucumber. We are still waiting on our first tomato to turn red. So far, only green.

    • I started knitting while I was in college. By the time I had kids, the muscle memory was there and I could work on autopilot. HOWEVER, there is a 3 year stretch when both/one my kids were under 2 that I only got in about 30 minutes a day (while watching TV after the kids were in bed). I can’t remember the details of most of my projects, because I didn’t log them into Ravelry. There’s a really nice cowl I made (designed) that I want to recreate, but I have NO information on it. Lesson learned!

  2. Those darn cats. Worse than kids when it comes to balls of yarn. Hopefully you find it before you need it. Sweaters are slow going no matter what. The bodies of them especially. The museum sounds like a fun time. Enjoy!

  3. I feel like summer is speeding by! Can I trade for your slow summer, lol. The museum looks like fun, definitely some place I’d take my daughter if it was close to us. Your sweater is coming along nicely. I’m usually good knitting the body, it’s the sleeves that get me every time. So.slow.
