Week Two: YOP 25/26

2 for 2!

Going back to work full time 19 months ago has REALLY eaten into my creative time. I lament the days I had a couple hours, but never thought it was enough. This week I continued work on the yoke of my sweater and got a number of rows on my crochet blanket.

This afternoon I’m at the public pool with my children and one of their friends. Our town has 2 public pools, mere blocks apart. Why so close? Maryland being the south: segregation into the 1960s. However, the smaller pool (guess which one it was in the past) is my favorite. It’s generally less crowded (never a line down the street!!!), you can always snag a deck chair, and the ABSOLUTE BEST PART: The pool area is surrounded by mature trees! No leaves in the pool, but shade for my pale self that struggles with temperature regulation in the heat. I’m fairly certain it feels 10 degrees cooler here than the pool you can practically see from the fence line.

But I digress. I’m on the deck working my sweater. It’s a humid summer day in the upper 80s. The perfect time to knit with wool. I should get to the sleeve divide this week!!

A somewhat accurate representation of the colors.

No additional creative endeavors. Hoping to work on the bulletin boards for school SOON.

  1. Ah, yes, Trying to knit in the humidity of summer with wool. I haven’t knit outside as much as I thought I would because it’s too hot and humid to be outside! Fingers crossed this week will be a little cooler so I can knit outside in the mornings. I like the colors of the yarn you are using for your sweater. My son is enjoying his last month before school starts up again.

  2. I can not imagine heat and humidity plus wool on my lap. I melted just reading it. Interesting history on the pools. My grandchildren have no clue what that time period was like. Hopefully they never will. Not that bigotry has vanished though. So sad.
