Oh Snap!

A Pile of New Yarny Finds

I always think of spring as the start of Fiber Fest season, even though I only go to a couple local events. Frederick Fiber Fest is pretty small, with less than 100 vendors. But two of my favorite dyers, Passion Knits and AT Haynes House Yarns, were there! Bonus points for it being free AND it is a 5 minute drive from my house. I think they have a fall and spring event now? Whatever, take my money.

I got my hands on some minis from Wool & Vinyl, there were so many beautiful colors that choosing just one or two wasn’t something I could do. The minis are about 80 yards each. I’m planning a fade style textured cowl, with each section being a different texture section. Or the yoke of a fingering weight sweater, which will require a couple more solid skeins.

I’ve really been loving those zebra striped sock skeins. When I saw Ain from Passion Knits had some in neon dayglow colors, I WAS ALL OVER IT. She also had some color changing (in the sun!!) stitch marker from Whitney Marie Anderson, which were expensive- but SO cool.

It wasn’t until I peeked into my bag to see my “Blue Hosta” from Fully Spun really matches “Is this the Actual Time?” from AT Haynes House yarns! I don’t have firm plans for either, but was leaning toward some sweet socks out of the Fully Spun yarn! All the colorways from Fully Spun were incredible, and I really hope to see them again at another event!

This week I also hit up my LYS, the Knot House! I needed a new pair of size 7/4.5mm fixed 40″ circulars. Somehow those AND a couple skeins of Knot House Yarns Worsted in Bee’s Knees came home with me. I have no idea how that happened. Queue sketchy side-eye.

My pretties

Maryland Sheep and Wool is THIS weekend! While there are a TON of fiber events happening (Yarncentric, the Knot House Pop-up, Magpie Flagship Grand Opening) this weekend, I’m only hitting up the Howard County Fairgrounds event (my bank account can only handle SOOOO much!). I haven’t been in 4 years! I’m going to see AT Haynes House Yarns. What!?! There are new colorways coming to MDSW! I’m also excited to see: Neighborhood Fiber Company, Bartlettyarns (I love me some rustic yarns), the Bee Folks (local honey- for my allergies, wink, wink), Kelbourne Woolens, and Yarn Hero to name a few. So, another post about new yarns will be incoming!
