Summer Friday

Well. It appears I’m back at the pool with the children. I’m not a pool kinda gal. I love swimming in the ocean, and that’s about it. Last week I gave myself some truly AWFUL sunburn by neglecting to sunblock. I was in the shade of a tree the whole time. Not enough. Today I’m under the umbrella, and it’s 4pm. I’m also wearing my clothes still. It’s empty, due to the threat of rain. Oh. Darn.

Suit is on. Just still dressed.

Yesterday I split the body and sleeves for my sweater. Today I’ve added a couple rows. I’m going to carry the cables and eyelets down the body. Which means the row after the yarn overs has a k2tog to maintain stitch counts. Optimistic I can manage. Oh, and I haven’t been counting my cable rows. Just going until it feels right. 🤣 I’m a mess.

Yarn at the pool.

Working as a full year/12 month employee at the high school is ok. Even though I get Fridays off, I work longer days during the week. And I still feel like I “miss out” on summer. Which is silly, because we can’t leave town for a few days until my daughter’s play concludes the first weekend in August. I also feel perpetually queasy and annoyed by the humidity and its pal high heat indexes.

Anyway. Back to my “light pool reading”, Franz Kafka’s The Trial. It’s somewhat apropos to current events.

  1. Haha, I’m the other way. Can’t stand being coated in saltwater so I never go into the water on our beach vacation. Wishing you well with your sun avoidance. I’m suffering the consequences of not wearing sunblock on my nose. Now I get to spend the remainder of my life with a disfigured nose. If I wear my “readers” down on my nose so I can do the whole look over the top of them, the frames hide most of the disfigurement.
